Mellissa has more than 15 years of experience gained in the Corporate, Disputes and Projects & Construction teams of premier firms in Australia and Ireland including Thomson Geer in Adelaide, Pinsent Masons and Arthur Cox in Dublin and in-house with large corporations including secondments to Santos Ltd. Mellissa has a broad skill set and provides corporate advisory and dispute resolution services across a range of industries.

Background

Mellissa has experience in drafting and advising on commercial, procurement, construction and engineering agreements for Australian, American and European clients. Mellissa has worked with companies to streamline their contracting process and has drafted framework agreements and contract suites for companies such as Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Adelaide Airport, Bristol Myers Squibb & Scherring-Plough Co.

Qualified as a mediator, Mellissa is experienced in various forms of dispute resolution having advised and represented corporate and government entities, banks, principals, contractors, sub- contractors and professional indemnity insurers in court proceedings and various forms of alternative dispute resolution in both Ireland and Australia. For example, Mellissa advised Acciona Agua Australia Pty Ltd and Acciona Agua Adelaide Pty Ltd in respect of matters arising from the design, construction and commissioning of the $1.83 billion Adelaide Desalination Plant at Port Stanvac, South Australia. Mellissa has also represented respondents including Thiess Pty Ltd in adjudications under the Security of Payment legislation.

Mellissa provides ongoing support to her clients including contract drafting, advice and negotiation, legal and commercial risk management, claims prevention and management, dispute resolution, governance and regulatory compliance. Mellissa believes in the importance of investing in her client relationships. She knows that it is imperative she understand the depth of her clients’ businesses, appetite for risk, culture and management style so that she can tailor bespoke services to meet their needs.
